Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer

710 meters high, the hill is in the Tijuca National Park and home to the most famous image of the city and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: the statue of Christ the Redeemer, 30 meters high. From the top, you can have a panoramic view of the city including, Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Botanical Garden and the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

Cristo Redentor

Sugar Loaf and Bondinho

The first cable car in Brazil, inaugurated in 1912, out of the Red Beach and runs 750 meters to reach the hill of Sugar Loaf, which is at a height of 396 meters above sea level. In the first section, the cable car takes you to the Urca Hill, 220 meters above sea level.

Floresta da Tijuca

Botanical Garden

Created on June 13, 1808 by King John VI, Prince Regent at the time, the Botanical Gardens, in the south zone of Rio, is considered one of the most important in the world. Recognized as Living Museum, brings together more than eight thousand plant species.

It consists of a water body with about two million square meters in the shape of a heart. Its banks, surrounded by parks, sports courts, kiosks for food, trails for hiking and biking, are one of the main points of attraction of the city.

Fort and Copacabana Beach

Located on Atlantic Avenue and its boardwalk simulating the movements of the waves, the most famous beach in Brazil hosts concerts, sporting events and one of the largest reveillons the world, with more than two million viewers. There is also the fort built in 1914, which preserves the original features, with its 12 meters thick walls facing the sea.

Quinta da Boa Vista

Former residence of the Portuguese imperial and royal family in Brazil, today hosts a public park that houses the zoo of Rio de Janeiro and the National Museum - housed in the former "Paço de São Cristóvão". The Zoo has 138 thousand square meters and more than 2100 animals, while the National Museum houses more than 20 million pieces.

Located inside the slum where singer Michael Jackson recorded the video They Do not Care About Us in 2005, it overlooks the city and Christ the Redeemer. Set in the neighborhood of Botafogo, the favela has 34 points of interest for tourists.

Known for hosting the last ball held by the monarchy, it houses a large neo-Gothic style building, designed by engineer Adolfo del Vecchio in 1881. On the second floor, a mosaic on the floor with the wind rose can be admired.

Getúlio Vargas Memorial

The permanent exhibition on the former president emphasizes his government from 1920 to 1945, and later from 1950 until his suicide in 1954. The collection includes historical photos and videos of speeches and official ceremonies.

Monastery of St. Benedict

Founded in 1590 by monks coming from Bahia, the Benedictine monastery of Rio de Janeiro was built at the request of the own inhabitants of the newly founded city of San Sebastian. The two main activities are the daily celebration of the Divine Office and the Eucharist with Gregorian chant.

Modern Art Museum

Its construction is a landmark of national architecture, designed by architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy and landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. It houses permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.

Paris Square

Built in 1926, inspired, as the name implies, in the Parisian gardens. It houses a large concentration of monuments and sculptures and a fountain, recently restored, located in a lake of 1600 square meters. It is one of the largest public parks in the city.
